Pass the Mic - Check Ca edition

Tonight is a party on Check Ca! Join us while we host some from very, very special guests helping us out in the radio booth:

Greg MacPherson - local musical artist extraodinaire, and overall cool guy. We'll put him to work in the mix, chat about this works, and delve into whatever else comes our way!

J.D. and the Sunshine band - this awesome local fixture will stop by to talk about their recent CD release, their community work, and well, to bring the party home!

This is going to be a fun show where we invite some great musical friends on our show who may not be the usual Check Ca fare. Our show tonight will introduce them to those who aren't familiar with them yet, but will also be a chance to do some fun radio too! Who knows where this week's adventure will take us... We may even have one more guest at the top of the show - don't miss a minute of it!

Time for Moves

Sometimes, folks send us fun and interesting music. Lots of fun to hear the creative works of independent artists in Manitoba and around Canada, and even beyond. Well, a few weeks ago we got a neat sample from a beatboxing artist in Toronto. All the sounds are from this man, looped live and mixed. Check it out:

Jack Moves features an interesting mix of covers in various styles: pop, rock, folk, hip hop. He also has some fun originals. He also has a new album out. Check out the title track from his album. It may be on the chill side, but you can really see how Jack Moves goes to work (pun intended - watch
the video and you'll understand).

STOP. the presses! DJ STOP @ Black Rabbit

I don't know about you, but around the Easter weekend I start seeing pictures of bunnies everywhere. With rabbits on the mind, I think I should burrow my way through the holiday excitement, and go somewhere hip and rabbit-friendly - like Winnipeg's 'Black Rabbit Bistro Lounge' at 135 Osborne St (corner of Osborne & Stradbrook) where "Basil's" or "The Tap & Grill" used to be back in the day. And since it's Easter and lots of folks have time off from the daily grind, why not kick off your shoes and hop down to the Black Rabbit for some terrific thumping tunes with DJ Stop. ?

All this preamble to tell you that DJ Stop. will 'go down the rabbit hole' this Thursday (tonight) for some hop-worthy spinning.  Check him out at this spot every Saturday night too.
