Derrick Gardner returns... March 30

Hey awesome CKUW listeners, make sure you tune on March 30 for a return visit from Derrick Gardner.  Mr. Gardner visited last year for an awesome Black History jazz show and now he's back for more!

For those who don't know, Derrick Gardner is an accomplished performer, trumpeter, composer, arranger, and instructor/professor. He leads his own jazz ensemble:  Derrick Gardner and the Jazz Prophets. Currently, Mr. Gardner is a professor in the University of Manitoba Jazz Studies Program.

Howdy Folks! It's been a minute since we've posted. We're just so focused on bringing you the tunes every Friday night!

You may have heard him on Check Ça with his work on Will Bonness's latest CD, Halcyon (I highly recommend the lovely sax solo on Puddles). Tune in this Friday night for a live interview, samples of Jon's music, and some choice jazz sax goodies presented by Mr. Gordon.
